A fantastic 2010 - welcome 2011

2010 has been fantastic! For me it was filled with lots of happy moments to think back to. It are always the small things in life I appreciate the most and I think this year I realised that more and more by less rushing. I'm glad to celebrate the end of these good times and to welcome the new year. If it's as good as last year I'm only looking forward to it more. I hope 2010 has brought you many good things as well and wish you all a spectecular New Year's Eve and 2011! And last but not least thank you so much for stopping by my (still a little new) blog, I'm thrilled with this new hobby and love reading your thoughts :)

Captivated by a fabulous, sophisticated party look

If I could choose one outfit right now to wear on New Year's Eve it would definitely be this one. I've fallen hard for this sophisticated, feminine look with flowers, bows and pearls. Perfection! The capture as well. Have you decided yet what you are wearing on New Year's Eve?

Unpredictable soft colors work

Soft colored interiors in an unpredictable way always attract my attention. This living room looks fabulous with it's orange, blue en lilac velvet fabrics. The walls and ceiling are beautifully decorated with ornaments. In combination with the fishbone floor the room looks very classic. The flowered rug and the gorgeous printed cusions give it a fresh and modern make-over. It's actually a rentable home for photoshoots or films. That would be fantastic I think! What would you do if you rented this house?

Never boring classics

I'm in love with these gorgeous, classic images shot by Bob Wolfenson. Spending time together with old fashioned books or games, or even boredom it seems, has hardly been captured so fine. Beautiful...

Captivated by a misty morning

First of all I hope you had a beautiful, happy Christmas. Unlike most other countries in the world it's tradition in Holland to celebrate a second day of Christmas for which I'm very happy. Even with two full, joyous days with my family Christmas has passed so soon! But I can't complain, I had a great time. We were pleasantly surprised with beautiful weather. It still was very white outside from the snow that fell last week and there was a lot of sunshine. Perfect weather for nice walks, sleigh rides and of course taking photographs. So we did, except for sleigh rides. (I wished my mum had kept our childhood sleigh... age doesn't matter right;)?). Anyway, I did got happy in the snow! From photographing. Here a few images from the sunrise and mist yesterday morning. How was your Christmas? Was it white?

Captivated by the beauty of blushing red

It has been an extremely busy day finishing my project and rushing for final Christmas gifts, with no time in between to be (and for) captivated by image. And without that my day can not finish so before heading to bed I just have to share these beautiful, blushing red images. Hope you enjoy them and have a wonderful start of Christmas tomorrow evening.

The biggest sparkle of the evening...

Would definitely be Mathilde Frachon. She rocks this gold sequin dress, captured by Benjamin Kanarek for Harper's Bazaar China January 2011. New Year's Eve, come on!

For the love of books

And by that I mean coffee table books. Those books, that are meant to be beautiful, deserve an equally beautiful surface to present themselves on. I've selected some eye-catching, stunning coffee tables to present, all from metal and glass with refined shapes. It's so hard to pick a favorite! Can you?
Right now I have two square perspex ones with silver metal frames on which I'm still crazy. But a little 'future dreaming' with these gorgeous examples can't hurt...

Favor a hint of pink for Christmas

Those who know me can tell you I'm a big fan of pink. And since it's the main color of my flower printed curtains my Christmas decorations always involve a hint of this bright, loveable color. This year I added some light gray and white to it. I really love the mixed results so my goal for next year is to find more white Christmas balls. Here a few images of my decorations. Do you like or use pink for Christmas?

So great it has to be given earlier than expected

Times passes so soon, i'ts already Monday again. And it's almost Christmas! I've been very busy finishing work for my study so I can't hardly wait till it's Saturday. Finally time to relax, have a good time and enjoy being with my family. I'm sure you all feel the same way. Yesterday I came across the most captivating and best Christmas captures ever, at least out of all the ones I've seen so far. Do you recognise the feeling that when you have a present you want to give someone so badly because it's so great, but you have to wait with giving? And instead of waiting you give it earlier than expected;)? Well that's how I feel about these images. I won't wait until Christmas and share them right now. Brilliant!

Gorgeous Mad Men captures

Following the previous collage of vintage fashion from the 1950's here two gorgeous captures of Mad Mens' leading ladies January Jones (Betty Draper) and Christina Hendricks (Joan Holloway). Stunning! This is one of the greatest tv series ever, I think. Can't hardly wait till the start of next season...

Wishing for ladylike fashion

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to live in the 40's, 50's or 60's... Mostly because of the then true classy, ladylike fashion. I've always loved the utterly feminine look and happily the hit tv show Mad Men has brought back attention to this way of dressing. We see different designers have picked up the vintage look again and so even the more affordable brands like Zara, Topshop or H&M now have pretty long skirts and dresses in their latest collections. I couldn't be more happy! Here's a little visual reminder of the gorgeous 50's vintage beauty. How do you feel about the utterly feminine look?

A jewel for Candace Bushnell. And me...

The famous Sex and the City writer Candace Bushnell seems to have a little palace in Manhattan. I can't say anything else about it other than j'adore!!! In a whole bunch of different forms: stunning, amazing, brilliant, gorgeous, charming, stylish, magnificent and so on. Look at the details: the coffeetable, different lamps, the sorted pink books, the mirrored room divider, the velvet sofa and the subtle use of a lot of different colors. It all works so good, I'm in love... What do you think?

Christmas boats

If you ask me, one of the best things about Christmas are the sparkling lights in and outside the house. Or the big citystreets decorated with dazzling ornaments. Besides this festive prettiness there is one special thing with lights for me each year and that is the decoration from the boats lying in the small harbour beneath my house. And since this looks so magical and charming I wanted to share these captures with you. Do you have a place nearby which turns a smile on your face everytime you walk by?

A fierce romance with red

I'm swooning over these captivating images from Inguna Butane for Vogue Mexico december 2010 shot by Naomi Yang, you too? Is'nt she an exquisite beauty? I now have a revived crush for red...
