The best of the '70s revived
Sometimes I see discussions about how timeless older fashion editorials/photography can be or how earlier days women were portrayed more beautifully. I'm not sure if I've seen enough of that to have a strongly based opinion about it, but I do know that what I've seen I love! Perhaps it's the power of classics and the natural beauty. The recent editorial below revives the '70 so well, as in the best of style from back then and photography. I'm always amazed to see the natural luminous, wavy hair on pictures from that time (thinking of my parents old photo's). Scarves were used more glamorous and leather bags got more creative and versatile. Colors were warm and soft, not screamy. Of course there were ugly mistakes too;) It makes me wonder how much from current days will be revived in the future... How do you think we will look back on nowadays fashion?

I love fashion images from the pre-Photoshop era ;-)
ReplyDeleteChristel, these are so beautiful! I don't know how nowadays fashion will look 50 years from now, but the classics (in the sense we use the word) will still look the best and style will always be associated with simplicity and natural beauty.
ReplyDeleteLove the 70's look and I am so excited that it's coming back!

This inspired me to wear a scarf around my hair! ;) I love 70's styled fashion! Very womanly!
ReplyDeletebeautiful pics! i definitely think there is a mystique and romanticism around the bygone eras, but i would have to agree that i prefer the "beauty" ideals of the fifties through early nineties more than today. and totally agree with lattelisa, the images are so distorted/edited/manipulated today, you don't know what's real and what's not.
ReplyDeletei love all the pops of red! so stunnnig :) xoxo jcd :: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI think days gone by are always romanticized a bit, which I think is a good thing. It's fashion optimism. For example, I don't think we're dying for the head to toe polyester of the '70s, but I think we do dream of the shapes and cuts that mark the time period.
ReplyDeleteGreat piece... I love the shots you included!

makes me want to travel back to the 70's and acquire some of that glamour. i'm loving the last picture. it's understated beauty, like they didn't have to try, being glamorous just 'was'. it is great when see different eras coming back into fashion. one 90's trend they brought back last year that i didn't agree with was stirrup pants, no those need to stay in the 90s.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think women were portrayed more beautifully in the past than they are now. There was a certain mystery and romance to fashion shoots, now it's all exposure.
ReplyDeleteHello Christel. Yesterday i tried to post my comments onto your blog but unsuccessfully, so i try it again :-) !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos... I have also a question: is all created? We tend to revive aesthetics from the past decades.
Shoes from the last photo are gorgeous! thank you
you kill me with these;x they are exactly my style, some of the days;)
ReplyDeleteTrends always return, so I think in 30 years we will dress kinda the same;)
Love 70's ! & love your daily post.
